Description

Redundant Joint Apparatus
Apparatus consists of three suspension members (spring balances) of different stiffness, which are jointed at a point to form the redundant joint. The upper end of the suspension members being tied in a position to a vertical wooden board. Arrangement is provided to apply a vertical load at the joint and to measure its horizontal and vertical displacement on a paper and also elongations and forces in the suspension members by the help of dial gauges. Dial gauges with magnetic base are provided with the apparatus.

Force on a Conductor Balance
Description
To demonstrate that when a current is passed through a conductor in a magnetic field, it is subjected to attraction or repulsion depending upon the direction of current in it. The apparatus consists of a plastic base 160 x 140 mm on which two contact pillars are mounted. Each pillar is provided with an external circuit. A balanced beam is supported by the pillars on two bearings which form the fulcrum. Two screwed masses are provided in the beam system, one moving vertically for the adjustment of sensitivity and the other moving horizontally for the adjustment of the equilibrium position, when no current is flowing. Description
Students can investigate the relationship between the intensity of transmitted light and the angle of rotation of two polarizing filters. A graduated cartridge containing two polarizing filters allows students to observe the change in intensity as they are rotated relative to one another. The analyzer allows quantitative readings to be taken using a voltmeter at five degree intervals as the polarizing filters are rotated from minimum to maximum transmission.
