Description
Suturing Simulators provide a realistic way for students to learn good surgical techniques. The simulators provide students with a variety of repair experiences without the constraint of time and concern for safety, which are factors with a live patient. The simulators can be used by the student in a learning lab with an instructor or by the student individually in the clinical setting just prior to a patient experience. Requires an external battery (not supplied) and a suitable resistance (not supplied). Resistance can be calculated using Ohm’s Law by noting current and voltage. Blood collection and storage is done is special tubes which allow the preservation of the blood sample over long periods.
These tubes can be made of glass or plastic and the caps of these vials are coloured to indicate the additives in them.
Some of the additives are anticoagulants such as EDTA, sodium citrate or heparin.
Other substances include preservatives. The containers containing coagulants are capped with gold, red or orange caps.
The ones containing anti-coagulants are green, which contain heparin, purple or lavender indicates ones which contain EDTA, grey capped tubes contain sodium fluoride or oxalate. Blood collection tubes (also called as vacutainers) are extensively used in hospitals, medical centres and diagnostic centres.
In biological labs, it is used in experiments like haemolysis etc.

‘Gravity’ By Free Fall Apparatus
Consists of an electromagnet housed in a plastic moulded case with connections for an external timer, with a heavy steel sphere, and a platform unit.
For determination of 'g' (the gravitational acceleration) by free fall method.
The apparatus consists of an electromagnet which is housed in a plastic moulded case with 4 mm socket connections provided to energize the magnet and another pair of sockets for connection to a timer in use.
To perform the experiment, an electromagnet is energized and a metal sphere is attached.
As soon as the power to the electromagnet is switched off the sphere falls and the unit activates the timer.
When the sphere hits the platform, which is connected to a micro switch, the timer stops and the time of fall can be determined.

Unit conveniently attaches to all commonly used stands (stand not supplied, see Stand & Rod Assembly - Value Pack STD-RD).
