To find out dryness fraction of steam by combined separating and throttling calorimeter.
PRODUCT DETAILS
The steam passing out from separating calorimeter may still contain some water vapour , in it . in other words it may not be absolutely dry . again , in a throttling calorimeter steam after passing through the throttle valve must be superheated or at least dry saturated . this limits the extent of dryness fraction that can be reliably measured , depend up on the pressure of steam in the main steam pipe . if a sample of steam, which may be still wet after passing through the throttle valve i.e it will not be superheated . thus under this condition the throttling calorimeter fails to enable us in determining the value of dryness fraction of steam . to overcome this difficulties we make use of separating and throttling calorimeter . first the steam is passed through separating calorimeter where itlosses most of it’s moisture and becomes comparatively drier, it is than passed through the throttling calorimeter where super heating takes place with out changr of total heat . the temperature and pressure of steam after throttling are measured by using a thermometer and manometer respectively.DESCRIPTION
The set up consist of a separating and throttling calorimeter . a steam generator is provided at the base of the apparatus . a thermostat knob is provided at the front of apparatus to control the temperature inside the steam generator . steam from steam generator is passed from separating calorimeter where most of the water partical get separated from steam and then passed to throttling calorimeter where steam get superheated . after that superheated steam passed through heat exchanger to condense the steam.SAPARATING CALORIMETER
It consist of two concentric chamber , the inner chamber ,and the outer chamber . which communicates with each other through an opening at the top. As the steam discharge through the metal baskets ,which has a large number of holes , the water partical due to there heavier momentum get separated from the steam and collected in the chamber. The comparatively dry steam in the inner chamber moves up and than down aging through the annular space between the two chambers and enters the throttling calorimeter .THROTTLING CALORIMETER
It consist a narrow throat . pressure and temperature are measured by manometer and thermometer . the steam after throttling process passed through the heat exchanger and condensate is collected .UTILITIES REQURIED

Refrigeration Trainer Electrolux Type
This type of refrigeration is usually used for domestic purposes only as it is complex in the construction and working. This type of refrigerator was developed in 1925 by Munters and Battzervan when they were studying at Royal Institute of Technology At Stockholm for their undergraduate course. This type of refrigerator was known as three fluid refrigeration system. The elimination of aqua pump from the absorption system with the complete absence of moving parts and work input. The main purpose of removing the pump was to make the machine noiseless. It uses refrigerant as a solvent s and an inlet gas for inlet of the system. The inert gas is continued to the lower side of system only by its system. It is possible to maintain the uniform pressure throughout the system and after sometime permitting the refrigerant to evaporator at low temperature corresponding to its partial pressure. In the high pressure side system (generator and condenser), there exists only the refrigerant which is subjected to total pressure of the system so that it is condensed by using normal cooling water as air as it is done in other system.
The strong aqua ammonia solution is heated in generator by the application of external heat source. The water vapor carried with ammonia vapor is removed in separate form as shown in figure. Then the dry ammonia vapor is passed into the condenser and it is condensed by using external cooling source. The liquid ammonia flows under gravity in the evaporator and it evaporates. The mixture of hydrogen and ammonia vapor is passed into the absorber and the weak solution from aqua ammonia from the separator is allowed to follow into the absorber, through tray this weak aqua ammonia solution comes into contact with hydrogen separated. This strong solution is further passed to the generator and it completes the cycle.

Hydraulic Ram Test Setup
DESCRIPTION:
The Set-up is designed to study the Hydraulic Ram. Hydraulic RAM is used for pump little quantity of water to high head from a large quantity of water available at low head. It works on a principle of water hammer stating that “When flowing water is suddenly stopped in a long pipe a pressure wave travels along the pipe creating an effect of water hammer”. The Set-up consists of a pipe section fitted with a pulse valve and non-return valve, a supply reservoir on a stand which is connected to an overhead tank, an air vessel above the valve chamber smoothes cyclic fluctuations from the Ram delivery. Different pressure may be applied to the pulse valve to change the closing pressure and hence the operating characteristic. The flow rate of useful and waste water is measured using measuring tank and stop watch provided. Pressure and Vacuum Gauge are connected on delivery and suction side for the purpose of measurement.EXPERIMENT:

Transparent acrylic plastic ripple tank, supported in a sturdy plastic frame which has recesses to hold four legs with leveling feet.
The tank edges are shaped to minimize undesired reflections.
Tank has a drain hole closed by a rubber stopper.
With two light alloy uprights to carry a horizontal rippler support rod which is adjustable for height.
