Suspension Bridge Apparatus
DESCRIPTION:
Cables are frequently used to support loads over large spans such as cable stayed for suspension bridges, cable car systems and stadium roof. They are used extensively for permanent guys on structures such as microwave towers and derricks. They are also used for temporary guys during erection. The only force in a cable is direct tension. They are too flexible to carry any moment. A cable is used to carry concentrated loads, uniformly distributed load along its length and uniformly distributed load along the horizontal span. It takes the shape of a polygon under concentrated loads, a catenary under uniform load along its length (such as its own weight), and a parabola under uniform load along the horizontal span.EXPERIMENT:

• Apparatus Consists of two mild steel cables 0.5cm diameter in cross section and 150cm long, pinned to two supports 90cm apart situated symmetrically. • One of the ends can be converted to a roller by applying a known load at the end with the help of suspended pulley system. • Vertical loads can be applied at various points along the span of the beam. • A dial gauge with 25mm travel (with a magnetic base) is to be supplied with the apparatus complete with a supporting stand and a set of weights.

Description
Catheterization Trainer Simulator trainer, male bladder catheterization procedures can be realistically demonstrated, practiced and assessed. The genital inserts are placed into the anatomically correct lower abdominal model and held in place with magnets.The material is soft and flexible:
the foreskin is movable and the penis can be stretched. This way the student can practice all the necessary gestures for catheterization (e.g. disinfection). The material gives a realistic feeling when inserting and removing the catheter into the bladder with realistic resistance and insertion depths.Direct learning:

Expansion Apparatus
Description
Two cast metal uprights, height 18 cm, fitted with two nickel plated rods supporting expansion bar of length 38 cm. Expansion bar is fixed to one upright and moves a pointer on the other, when heated With scale reading 0 to 90°, supplied with one each, aluminium, brass and iron expansion bars. Water Cooling Tower Apparatus
The apparatus consists of a forced draught, counter flow type-cooling tower. A blower supplies cooling air. Air enters the tower at the bottom. Hot water is, obtained from a geyser. Hot water is sprayed over the mesh packing through the nozzles and it flows downwards. Evaporative cooling of water occurs due to the current of air and water gets cooled. Pin Fin Appatatus
The apparatus consists of a channel in which the pin fin is tested in both natural as well as forced convection. The channel is connected to the suction of blower. The blower is operated to touch the pin fin in forced convection only. In natural convection, the window above the pin fin is kept open to the atmosphere. Five thermocouple tapings are given along the length of the fin. Thus the temperature distribution along the length can be distinguished. Also natural and forced heat transfer co-efficient, effectiveness, etc. can be found out.
