HVDC Transmission Line Simulator
The HVDC Transmission due to its advantages, like long distance transmission, interconnect different power systems (like 50Hz and 60Hz), more energy transmits than AC, less losses, make it essential for the students to study & understand the operation of HVDC. Vi Micro have introduced a trainer for this purpose “HVDC Transmission Line Simulator”
HVDC Transmission Line System consists of
• Generating Station Module • Rectifier Station Module (SCR or IGBT Based) • Simulated HVDC Transmission Line Module • Inverter Station Module • Loading ModuleGenerating Station Module
• It consists of a 3Φ, 415V Variable AC source, 1.5 KVA step up transformer, a Multifunction Meter (To measure various electrical parameters of • Generating side or sending end) & a Miniature Circuit Breaker. • Earth Fault Relay is provided for protection against Earth Fault. • The module is covered with metallic enclosure and sticker represents the prime operation of the module. Safety power plug-sockets are provided.Rectifier Station
• Two no’s of fully controlled SCR based bridge rectifiers provided to convert 3Φ AC to DC for HVDC transmission. • Two 6 Pulse SCR bridges connected in series • Can be configured as 12 Pulse Rectifier • A 3Φ, 1.5KVA transformer with (Y) primary and dual (Δ, Y) secondary are provided to reduce harmonics • The module is covered with metallic enclosure and sticker represents the prime operation of the module.

Level Control Measurement Module
This module consists of a process tank with a miniature pump, level sensor for 2 levels, a power supply, etc., To establish a ON/OFF control for the level of water. Circuitry is provided for stand alone operation or through a 8255 port of a Microprocessor kit.

Refrigeration Trainer Domestic Type
The unit enables students to study the various parameters affecting the performance of a domestic refrigerator. It consists of refrigeration cycle of domestic refrigerator, it consists a hermetically sealed compressor, air-cooled condenser, capillary tube and a natural convection type evaporator. The evaporator is fitted with a small heater to simulate different load conditions various measurements are provided so that power consumption, COP, theoretical and actual refrigerating effects refrigerant flow rate and effect of door opening on power consumption can be studied and also students can visualize automatic operation of unit using a thermostat.

Centrifugal Blower Test Rig
The apparatus consists of a spiral casing, which houses an impeller. Impeller is driven by a variable speed D.C. motor. Three, interchangeable impellers, viz. This consists of 2 Microgrids of 2000W &1000W of power generation connected to a main Power Grid with all the components needed to convert a traditional Grid to a Smart so that many experiments can be conducted on this “Smart Grid”. A 3Φ 3KW isolation transformer with power input from utility grid will act as main grid to which 2 Microgrid will be connected through synchronizing panel. Optionally a commercial 3Φ, 2.5KVA Grid Commercial Solar Power Inverter can be added to this experimental setup.
