Forced Convection Apparatus
The unit consists of a circular pipe; loosing heat by forced convection to air, being forced through it. Constant heat flux is added to pipe by an electrical heater, provided with input control. The pipe surface temperature is measured at various points along length of pipe. Temperature of air at inlet and outlet of test section are measured. Thus the students can calculate local and overall heat transfer coefficients in forced convection, at various airflow rates and various heat flux values.

Friction In Pile Lines Apparatus
DESCRIPTION:-
The Set-up consists of 2 pipes of different diameters, which are connected in parallel. Pressure tapings are provided on each pipe to measure the pressure losses with the help of a Differential Manometer. Control valves are fitted on each pipe, which enables to use one pipe at a time for experiment. Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank and a centrifugal pump etc. Flow control valve and by-pass valve are fitted in water line to conduct the experiment on different flow rates. Apparatus consist of a mild steel beam 100cm long and 1.25cm x 4mm in cross section with graduations at every 10cm along the length. It should be supported on two knife edge supports 70cm apart with a 30cm overhang on one side. Reciprocal theorem can be verified by direct measurements of the deflections of various points with the help of a dial gauge due to a load placed at the reciprocal points.
