Cross Staff
Description
The Cross-Staff was used at sea from the beginning of the 16th century until the first half of the 18th century. It was used to measure the sun's altitude, especially at the meridian passage. With the knowledge of the sun's declination, the mariner could then obtain his latitude. The staff is original, with the inscription. The cross pieces are replicas. Rain gauge is designed to measure the precipitation. This small Version consisting of upper and lower housing part, measuring cylinder; Housing made of stainless steel, orifice rim made of brass. Type 7019.0000 can be supplied with a receiving area of 100 cm2. (This type is not conforming to meteorological standards). • Receiving area : 100 cm². • Rain measure (graduated glass) : 250 cm³. • Measuring range : 0 t0 25 mm precipitation (relative to a receiving area of 100 cm²). • Graduation : 1/1 mm precipitation. • Dimensions : dia 115 mm; height 300 mm. • Weight : approx. 0.8 kg.
Deflection Of Truss Apparatus
Apparatus consist of 4 panels of a PRATT steel truss, each panel being 40cm in horizontal direction and 30cm in vertical direction. Load can be applied on each panel point. All tension members should be provided with detachable springs so as to obtain appreciable deformation of the member. Direction of the diagonal members may be changed. Apparatus can be used to illustrate visually the nature of forces set up in various members of the Truss. Apparatus to be supplied should be complete with a supporting stand and a set of weights.

Optical Disc
Description
A 500 mm diameter disc marked every 5° is mounted on a heavy stand and is rotatable around its centre. It can be held in any desired position. The lamp house, with a 12V 24 W special filament lamp has rotatable slots to provide light beams of varying widths and also narrow single, double and triple beams. Attached to the lamp house is an adjustable lens carrier with lens to provide diverging, parallel or converging light beams which are clearly visible in classroom. The lamp house can be held in any desired position around the disc. Optical elements are two 50 x 25 mm plane glass mirrors, and a metallic cylindrical mirror, each mounted in a holder, for reflection. For refraction, 20 mm thick acrylic semi-circular block, bi-convex lens, bi-concave lens each 140 mm long and a trapezium with 125 mm base are provided. Each of these elements has embedded magnets to hold on to the disc.
