DESCRIPTION:
Cables are frequently used to support loads over large spans such as cable stayed for suspension bridges, cable car systems and stadium roof. They are used extensively for permanent guys on structures such as microwave towers and derricks. They are also used for temporary guys during erection. The only force in a cable is direct tension. They are too flexible to carry any moment. A cable is used to carry concentrated loads, uniformly distributed load along its length and uniformly distributed load along the horizontal span. It takes the shape of a polygon under concentrated loads, a catenary under uniform load along its length (such as its own weight), and a parabola under uniform load along the horizontal span.EXPERIMENT:

• Apparatus Consists of two mild steel cables 0.5cm diameter in cross section and 150cm long, pinned to two supports 90cm apart situated symmetrically. • One of the ends can be converted to a roller by applying a known load at the end with the help of suspended pulley system. • Vertical loads can be applied at various points along the span of the beam. • A dial gauge with 25mm travel (with a magnetic base) is to be supplied with the apparatus complete with a supporting stand and a set of weights.

Description
Auto Karl Fischer Titrimeter – 761 is an automatic apparatus designed to carry out Karl Fischer Titrations for accurate determination of moisture content in various samples. The instrument comprises of two units i.e CONTOL UNIT & TITRATION UNIT. The CONTROL UNIT controls the complete automatic titration. On pressing the START button, the titration starts and the KF reagent is added automatically from the burette, through a solenoid valve into the titration vessel. As soon as the end point is reached, the titration is stopped automatically by the Control Unit. It has fully solid state circuitry incorporating advanced IC technology. Titration unit contains the magnetic stirring mechanism and the solenoid valve assembly. The cabinet is designed to serve as a titration stand. This consists of 2 Microgrids of 2000W &1000W of power generation connected to a main Power Grid with all the components needed to convert a traditional Grid to a Smart so that many experiments can be conducted on this “Smart Grid”. A 3Φ 3KW isolation transformer with power input from utility grid will act as main grid to which 2 Microgrid will be connected through synchronizing panel. Optionally a commercial 3Φ, 2.5KVA Grid Commercial Solar Power Inverter can be added to this experimental setup. By adding 3Φ, 2.5KVA commercial solar inverter, when the experimental setup is not used by student, it may be used to generate power.
