DESCRIPTION:
Francis Turbine is a reaction Turbine, which was developed by English born American Engineer Sir J.B. Francis. The water enters the turbine through the outer periphery of the runner in the radial direction and leaves the runner in axial direction and hence it is called a mixed flow turbine. As the water flows to the runner, a part of pressure energy goes on changing into kinetic energy. Thus the water through the runner is under pressure. The runner is completely enclosed in an air tight casing and the casing & runner is always full of water. The present Set-up consists of a runner. The water is fed to the turbine by Means of centrifugal Pump, radially to the runner. The runner is directly mounted on one end of a central SS shaft and other end is connected to a brake arrangement. The circular window of the turbine casing is provided with a transparent. The circular window of the turbine casing is provided with a transparent acrylic sheet for observation of flow on to the runner. The runner assembly is supported by thick cast iron pedestal. Load is applied to the turbine with the help of brake arrangement so that the efficiency of the turbine can be calculated. A draught tube is fitted on the outlet of the turbine. The Set-up is complete with guide mechanism. Pressure and vacuum Gauge are fitted at the Inlet and Outlet of the turbine to measure the total supply head on the turbine.UTILITIES REQUIRED:

Trans-Ratio
Description
Trans-Ratio is a simple transformer system that allows students to investigate the relationship between primary voltage, secondary voltage and the turns ratio. The Primary coil has tappings at 200, 400 and 600 turns while the Secondary has 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 turns all brought out to 4mm sockets. An AC supply of upto 6 V as well as AC voltmeters are required for demonstration purpose.

Bridge rectifier is designed with four LEDs internally arranged in bridge pattern fitted inside a plastic moulded case. Two LED’s are red and two LED’s are green. This device is used to demonstrate the functioning of a bridge rectifier, i.e., to convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). Two yellow sockets are used for AC input. DESCRIPTION:-
The Set-up consists of a ½ bend and elbow, a sudden expansion & sudden contraction fitting from 15 mm to 25 mm, ball valve and gate valve. Pressure tapings are provided at inlet and outlet of these fittings under test. A differential manometer fitted in the line gives pressure loss of individual fitting. Thermocouple Calibration Test Rig
The Unit helps in calibrating given thermocouple for the range 0°C to 100°C. While calibrating, thermocouple is once dipped in ice for 0Q C and then in boiling water for 100°C. Digital Friability test apparatus is microprocessor based instrument designed to monitor the resistance of tablets to stresses and to decide their suitability for the further processes.
