Description
Apparatus is designed primarily for demonstration of the basic principles of transformers. It consists of a laminated U-core with laminated I-core, both with 32 x 25 mm cross section to form a closed core of size 102 x 127 mm. Heavy aluminium alloy stand with removable clamping rods, 2 pole pieces, each 65 x 30 x 25 mm with one end cone shaped, to accept support rod and shading ring. Description
Comprising a resistance wire swg 24 stretched along a meter scale subdivided in mms and marked every cm. is clamped to stout brass plates so as to avoid end errors. Force on a Conductor Balance
Description
To demonstrate that when a current is passed through a conductor in a magnetic field, it is subjected to attraction or repulsion depending upon the direction of current in it. The apparatus consists of a plastic base 160 x 140 mm on which two contact pillars are mounted. Each pillar is provided with an external circuit. A balanced beam is supported by the pillars on two bearings which form the fulcrum. Two screwed masses are provided in the beam system, one moving vertically for the adjustment of sensitivity and the other moving horizontally for the adjustment of the equilibrium position, when no current is flowing. Motorised Governor Apparatus
The unit consists of a base upon which the bearing holders and driving motor are bearing can be fitted in a holders to end conditions for test shafts, viz. Both end fixed and one end free, one end fixed. A Variac provided control of driving motor. The unit demonstrates the phenomenon of whirling of shafts with single rotor. As the test is destructive, after the test cannot be used, hence the unit only demonstrates the principle.
However, results obtained are closer to theory, as compared to those with bare shafts. Also, It can be demonstrated that, after passing whirling speed, shaft again starts running true.
